SIGMA has been actively engaged in collateral research, publications, and education for a number of years, and many of our longtime readers will likely be familiar with a key aspect of these efforts: The Collateral Survey. Beginning in 2013, these periodic surveys helped evaluate current trends and issues in the collateral space.
We are happy to announce that we're replacing these surveys with the new RISK66 Collateral Assessment Tool, which will provide a more continuous process to both monitor collateral trends and data, and facilitate collateral discussions. This web-enabled tool will feature a multi-question survey including many of the topics that were historically monitored through prior survey iterations.
The output from the tool will summarize the user's answers and provide a score indicating the potential usefulness of analytics to support collateral issues. As more data is collected, we plan to update the tool so that the output also provides benchmarking information for comparison purposes. For more information on how to use the tool and create an assessment, view our FAQ.
We welcome your feedback on this new addition to the RISK66 online suite by contacting us at support@SIGMAactuary.com. As a reminder, RISK66 houses other collateral resources that may be valuable, such as the Collateral Overview Brochure, Collateral Requirements Graphic, and our most recent Collateral Survey. Collateral Surveys from previous years can also be accessed in the Resource Library of RISK66. Sign up or login for access.
In addition to the assessment tool and other resources available on RISK66, SIGMA provides actuarial consulting services to support collateral negotiations and discussions. This process normally consists of a reserve analysis for the specified years and can involve a full review of an insurance carrier’s workpapers.
